About Colorado Zip Codes

    Who Runs This Site

cozipcodes.com is run by SEO Agency USA, a digital marketing firm that builds public-data reference sites. The site is independent: it is not affiliated with the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Postal Service or any Colorado government agency.

    Why It Exists

Census figures for ZIP codes are public but hard to use: they are spread across dozens of tables, and a single number means little on its own. This site puts the main figures for 164 Colorado ZIP codes on one page each and puts them in context: where a ZIP ranks among the others, how it compares with its county and its nearest neighbors, and what stands out. It is meant for people deciding where to live, real estate agents, small businesses, students and reporters. There are no paywalls or sign-ups.

    What the Site Covers

164 ZIP codes in 30 Colorado counties, using 59 postal city names. Colorado has more ZIP codes than that, including ones reserved for PO boxes or a single organization; for any street address, the USPS ZIP Code Lookup is the authoritative source. 158 of the ZIP codes have Census figures, with a combined 4,462,489 residents.

    Where the Data Comes From

Population, age, income, poverty, employment, education and housing figures come from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates (2020–2024) for ZIP Code Tabulation Areas. They were last compiled in October 2026. Every ZIP page links to its own Census profile on data.census.gov, where each figure can be checked.

What the Site Does Not Publish

    • No school ratings, walkability scores, crime rates or home-price forecasts. The Census Bureau does not publish them, and the site only shows figures it can source.
    • No land area or population density figures: the values the site held for them had no documented source. They can come back once they have been checked against Census files.
    • No demographic figures for 80037, 80040, 80477, 80639, 80901 and 81302. The site's figures for these ZIP codes did not come from the Census Bureau, so they have been removed. ZIP codes used only for PO boxes or by a single organization often have no Census tabulation area.

    How Comparisons Are Calculated

    • "Typical Colorado ZIP" is the median across the 158 ZIP codes on this site with Census figures. It is not weighted by population and is not an official statewide figure. Right now the typical ZIP has a median household income of $95,207, a median home value of $562,800 and median rent of $1,824 a month.
    • Ranks count from the highest value, so rank 1 is the highest income, the most expensive homes or the oldest population. ZIP codes with no published figure are left out of that ranking, which is why some ranks are out of fewer than 158.
    • A Census median of zero in the data means no estimate was published (usually because too few households were sampled). The site shows it as "Not available" and leaves it out of medians and ranks.
    • Nearby ZIP codes are the closest ones on the site by straight-line distance between approximate ZIP centers. Nearby cities and counties work the same way, so a nearby county may not share a border.
    • City and county figures are built from their ZIP codes. A city is a USPS postal city, and ZIP codes don't follow city or county lines, so combined populations are not official city or county totals. "Typical ZIP" for a city or county is the median of its ZIP codes' medians; the Census Bureau's own city and county medians will differ.
    • The written summaries on ZIP, city and county pages are generated from the same numbers shown in the tables, so the text cannot disagree with the data.

    Limitations

    • ACS figures are survey estimates with margins of error. Estimates for small ZIP codes, with a few thousand residents or fewer, are much less precise.
    • The 5-year estimates pool survey responses over five years, so they lag fast-changing areas.
    • ZIP Code Tabulation Areas approximate USPS ZIP code areas and can differ at the edges.
    • Each ZIP code is listed under one county even when it crosses a county line.
    • Area codes are the main ones for each region; newer overlay codes may also be in use.

    Updates

The ZIP figures were last compiled in October 2026, from the ACS 2020–2024 release.
